KUSAFIRI ORGANIC WINES
Kusafiri Organic Wines is a small family business at the foot of the Paardeberg in South Africa. They specialize in organic, no added sulfites, vegan friendly wine. The reason for this is that they are firmly convinced that you should be kind to yourself and the environment, hence the reason to start organic production as early as 1999. As winemakers, they are passionate about making great eco-friendly wines at affordable prices.
We are one of the few cellars making sulphite free wines in South Africa and certainly the only one that focuses on this style of winemaking.
“Kusafiri” is the Swahili word for JOURNEY
After meeting each other during their annual safaris, Klaas Coetzee and Sandro Bertuol became steady friends. Their journey into wines was as natural and organic as the sun-drenched landscape they explored together.
“Kusafiri Wines” is the result of a Swiss quest for authenticity and the exquisite skill of a South African winemaker. Their Voyageu Vin showcases one of Africa’s most fascinating plants, the “Koekemakranka”, a rare and sought-after strain, as does the quality wine they produce.
All wines not vegan?
In conventional winemaking, many proteins are added to the wine to make it stable, such as egg whites, gelatin, casein (milk protein) or isinglass. These are called fines. With Kusafiri wines, we do not require finings due to our quality grapes and the unique process we have developed over the years.
